Great "war sucks" story about a reluctant army recruit, who manages to
survive enough battles to finally be promoted to Commander, all the while
ageing disproportionately to "real" time as he jumps between stars. Factor
in the dramatic changes in society each time our protagonist returns from
battle, his ongoing against all odds love story with a fellow recruit
(female) , and the way in which both the army and society goes about
manipulating them (the soldiers), and you get a great social commentary
story too.
Well written in a simplistic prose. A fine read! |
